For Our Prayers
We pray for all in our community who are sick at this time and ask for your comfort and support for them and their carers. Lord, give your wisdom to all who are in financial difficulties and struggling with the cost of living and debt.
Our Link Diocese in Sudan
Revd Pauline Walker visited Sudan in January when Archbishop Justin took the party on a tour of Juba, enabling them to see how the area had changed in 6 years. “It has grown enormously, yet the poverty in most areas is obvious. Inflation in South Sudan is astronomical..Homes are randomly broken into and people attacked and even killed. Many wages have not been paid for many years. Medical supplies are hard to get, if at all. ..Yet into this situation the church reaches out and brings care, comfort and even hope and joy.”
Please pray for the people of Sudan in their struggles, for peace and thank God for the inspiration of their strong faith in adversity.
Creationtide 6th September – 4th October
On Sunday 4th October we welcome Ian Fletcher to be our preacher. He is the Environment Champion for our area in the Diocese of Leeds.

Christmas Post
As in previous years Michael Cowgill will be taking orders for stamps for your Christmas post.
These are new, former Commemorative stamps, that have been withdrawn from sale by the Post Office but sold onto dealers at a reduced rate and then onto Charities – and are still valid to use. A 2nd class stamp costs 91p and 1st class is £1.80. Please order from Michael in units of ten. All profits from the sale of these stamps will go to the Church Association for Sudan and South Sudan. More details from Michael.

Update
Repairs to the dry rot in the kitchen have been completed. We are just waiting for the boiler and cooker to be serviced as they have been unused for 18 months. We are now getting quotes for a new kitchen but we hope to get some grants to help with this plus our future fund raising efforts. Val and Jenny are working very hard on this.
Gardening/Tidying – We need You
On Saturday 17th October 9.30 am-12.30pm (weather permitting) we are going to do some tidying up of the church grounds. If you could offer 1 or 2 hours to help out that would be great. Kind of work needed: chopping back bushes, weeding kerbs and beds, bagging up garden rubbish, taking rubbish to the tip and sweeping up. We have some tools but you may wish to bring your own to use. Please see Julie for more details.
Advent or Anytime
Revd Mike Green has written 2 books which you may find useful to use through Advent or anytime.
Mike Greens Books
If you would like to purchase either or both of these books please let Jenny Savage have your name and money as soon as possible.
Waiting for Aslan can be bought for £8.99 on Amazon or £7 from me and I will get the books direct from Mike.
Looking Again: Finding God in the stories we love.
This would be a good book to read for those who have been to the sessions on Giving my life to God. It would also be good if you were unable to attend the sessions.
On Amazon it costs £5.99 or £4 from me.
If you decide to buy through Amazon please order your own book. If you give me your name and money it may take up to 3 weeks to get the books as Mike may have to order them.
